Kerstin Krühler - biography

Kerstin Krühler studied Music Education at the Westfälische-Wilhelms Universität in Münster and at the the Conservatory of Enschede where she graduated Bachelor of Music. She continued her education at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem achieving the Master of Music. She took part in Masterclasses with Eva-Maria Westbroek, Barbara Hannigan and Jendrik Springer. 

In season 2012/13 she performed the roles of Blanche and Madame Lidoine at the Amsterdamse bostheater and in other locations in the Netherlands followed by a semi staged production of Verdi's Aida where she sang Aida, the Mother in Amahl and the Nightvisitors and the First Lady in the Zauberflöte at the Festival Midzomerschans in Texel.

The following year the same festival invited the studio again to perform Bizet's Carmen in which Kerstin sang the role of Michaela. In the same year she also took on the role of Suor Angelica at the Delft fringe theatre festival. 2013 and the next two following years Kerstin Krühler was invited to sing at Internationaal Muziekweekend in Borne, there she sang the Euridice in Orfeo and Euridice/Gluck and the Solo Soprano in Gounod's Cecilia Mass and Mirjams Siegesgesang.

In 2014 some performances with the same productions followed at places in The Netherlands.

Season 2015/16 started with a special occasion. Kerstin Krühler got to sing the Ortlinde and Siegrune in the Ride of the Valkyries which was a special feature of the Dutch Operastudio in the premiere of „De Wolven“, a new piece in which homeless young people got the chance to sing Wagner. This was performed at the theatre „De Meervaart“ in Amsterdam and led by conductor Johannes Leertouwer and director Charles Hens. The same year the production Hänsel und Gretel, where she sang the role of Gertrud, was invited to several places such as the Ostadetheater Amsterdam, Opera aan de Schie in Rotterdam and the Piccolaopera in Uster/Zürich under the baton of maestro Salvatore Cicero.

Season 2016/17 she debuted as Zelatrice/Suor Angelica at Opera aan de Schie and Knusperhexe at Presail Texel. Furthermore she sang in the productions of Hänsel und Gretel, Gertrud and the Mother/Amahl and the Nightvistors at Opera aan de Schie.

In 2018 Kerstin Krühler performed the roles of Fremde Fürstin/Rusalka and the Mere Marie/Dialogues des Carmelites at the Waterlandse Operazomer. The production of Rusalka was broadcasted at local TV. Recently the Soprano sang the Second Lady in the Zauberflöte, a Dutch Operastudio production in cooperation with Fulco's mannenkoor and conductor Michel Valk in the theater „De Vijf Zinnen“ in Amsterdam as well as in Ruigoord, a place in which art finds cooperation with theatre and music. Kerstin Krühler got the Richard Wagner scholarship and attended the Bayreuther Festspiele in 2014.

Performances in 2018 will include title role of Suor Angelica in Zierikzee, Mere Marie in Dialogues des Carmelites, Gerhilde in a semi-staged production.

May 2020 Kerstin Krühler will sing the Abigaille in "Nabucco" in a cooperation of the Dutch Opera Studio with PiccolaOpera Zürich.
